Evidance Based Practice Penerapan Terapi Kompres Jahe Untuk Mengurangi Nyeri pada Gout Arthritis

Abstract

The prevalence of gout disease in individuals aged 55-64 years is 45%, in those aged 65-74 years is 51.9%, and in those aged ≥75 years is 54.8%. Based on the 2018 Basic Health Research results, the national prevalence of gout based on doctor's diagnosis reached 7.3%, while in North Sulawesi Province it was 8.35%, exceeding the national prevalence. About 35% of the people in North Sulawesi have high uric acid levels. Ginger is a type of medicinal plant that can help reduce inflammation and relieve pain when uric acid levels in the body are very high. The administration of non-pharmacological therapy using ginger compress is expected to become an alternative to reduce pain due to gout compared to pharmacological treatment, which may cause dependency. The aim of this study is to find out the nursing care for gout arthritis by implementing ginger compress therapy at Panti Werdha Damai Ranomuut. This report uses a case study approach in nursing care, including assessment, formulation of nursing diagnoses, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The results obtained by the researcher found three nursing problems identified as nursing diagnoses, namely acute pain, disturbed sleep patterns, and risk of falls. After three days of nursing care, there were improvements in the problems of pain and sleep disturbance with reduced complaints of pain and sleep difficulty, while the problem of the risk of falls was partially resolved. In conclusion, comprehensive nursing care can address the nursing problems experienced by the client.
