Abstract

Falls are a serious health issue for the elderly, causing injuries, psychological trauma, and decline in quality of life. The “Preventing Falls in the Elderly: One Step Safer” education program aimed to increase awareness and knowledge among the elderly and their families about fall risk factors and prevention measures. The program was conducted face-to-face using interactive lectures, discussions, and practical activities at the Elderly Worship Community Aras Jemaat. Results showed increased participant understanding of intrinsic factors such as decreased bodily function and medication use, and extrinsic factors such as home environmental conditions. Participants actively planned preventive steps such as home modification, use of assistive devices, and light exercise. The activity received positive community support with observable behavioral changes during initial monitoring. This education program is recommended to be conducted regularly to foster a safe, healthy environment enabling elderly people to live independently and productively.
